SOUTHFIELD (November 19, 2021) – Teri Spiro was installed as 2022 president of the Greater Metropolitan Association of Realtors® during GMAR's 2021 Annual Membership Meeting.
Teri Spiro was GMAR's 2021 President-Elect and 2020 Treasurer. She's an RPAC Hall of Famer 3 times over and highly respected in the industry. Teri has years of experience and adheres to a collaborative approach to leadership. Steering our Association into the following year, 2022 President Teri Spiro will keep us between the navigational beacons!

GMAR and the Realtors® Relief Foundation Provide $17,000 in Financial Assistance to Families
In the wake of the highly destructive storms that struck Southeast Michigan this summer, the Greater Metropolitan Association of Realtors® (GMAR), working with the National Association of Realtors® (NAR) and the Realtors® Relief Foundation, reached out to the communities affected by these catastrophic events. We recently focused our efforts on families in White Lake and Armada Township, which were hit by a devastating tornado causing millions of dollars of damage. Despite insurance assistance, homeowners in these areas still faced significant repair costs.

Metro-Detroit Monthly Housing Real Estate Statistics - September 2021
Nationwide, existing home sales were down slightly in August, falling 2% after two consecutive months of increases, according to the National Association of REALTORS®. The decline in existing home sales coincides with rising sales prices, which have continued to soar into fall, with the median sales price of existing homes up 14.9% compared to last year. Declining affordability has had a significant impact on homebuyers, many of whom have been priced out of the market and are choosing to wait for sales prices to ease before resuming their home search.

Michigan Realtors® & GMAR Assist Oakland and Macomb County Residents
The Greater Metropolitan Association of Realtors® (GMAR), together with the North Oakland County Board of Realtors®, with assistance from the Michigan Realtors® and the National Association of REALTORS®, is happy to announce a program that provides relief assistance for qualified applicants of Oakland and Macomb County in response to the heavy rainfall, winds, and tornadoes that resulted in widespread property damage on July 24 – 25, 2021.
GMAR Announces $20,000 in Scholarships for Class of 2021
Despite the chaos this year has brought on all of us, the Class of 2021 will likely end up being one of the most resilient high school graduation classes in recent history. GMAR’s commitment to its members has never been greater—and the Higher Education Scholarship is just another example of that commitment.
In August, GMAR gave nearly $20,000 in scholarships to the children of GMAR members! To qualify, graduating seniors applied for the scholarship earlier this year and committed to attending a Michigan college or university.
