  • The state of Michigan requires real estate licensees to earn at least 18 hours of continuing education (CE) credits every 3 years to renew their real estate license. Each year a licensee must complete at least 2 hours of legal education and 1 hour of fair housing education. This is part of your 18 total credits for the 3 years. The additional 9 credits needed to reach a total of 18 can be credits of any type. The topic number and course name must differ from the other courses a licensee has taken within the 3-year period.

If a licensee fails to complete the required credits in a year, they may try to make it up in proceeding years. If the licensee is audited, this does not guarantee the licensee will not be penalized. To check your CE Credits, visit and log into the CE Marketplace. If you do not yet have an account, please create one by visiting CE Marketplace.

The real estate profession offers one of the widest career selections in the business world today.

You may want to help people buy and sell homes, office buildings, and/or industrial property, or you might want to enter into property management, land development, mortgage banking, urban planning, real estate counseling, appraising, or research.

All are aspects of a career in real estate, and each one offers a world of opportunity. If you weren't sure before, hopefully, you are now: real estate is more than a sign on someone's front lawn. It is one of the most dynamic business fields out there.
